Your birth will be as unique as you are. Make sure your birth class is, too.

Yes, you can take a class at your hospital and learn about the stages of labor, when to head to the hospital, how to diaper a baby, and what to pack in your hospital bag.

But we bet you are here because you're looking for more than that.

Our guess is that you're inquisitive, already know a lot of what will be taught in a hospital group class, and are seeking something deeper as you prepare for your birth.

We aren't your average childbirth class. Yes, we will go over the basics - stages of labor, interventions, cesarean births, and early postpartum, etc. But we're also going to engage in conversation, activities, and storytelling that will offer you the opportunity to:

  • deepen your partnership with your support person. Focused practice, conversation, and honest exploration of what matters most to each of you will help you understand one another's hopes, expectations, and fears (and how to support one another).

  • protect your rights in the birth space. We help you understand what those rights are and develop the tools and confidence to advocate for yourself.

  • understand what is happening in your body beyond dilation and contractions. We talk in detail about the hormones at play during labor, how movement and environment can have a huge impact on your labor, and you will learn simple tricks for encouraging labor to progress.

  • broaden your expectations. No one can control or predict how your birth will go, but we will spend time exploring the possibilities, expanding your expectations, and practicing letting go so that you can be prepared for whatever may be in store for you.

Some other great reasons to take our course:

  • You want something more personal. We teach, but we don't lecture. Our course is interactive, questions and participation are encouraged, and your unique circumstances and questions shape how we approach each course.

  • You want a safe and supportive environment. We are compassionate, trauma-informed educators who care deeply about creating an environment that supports non-judgmental exploring and learning.

  • You want to have deep, honest conversations. This is what we live for! We're an open book about our own experiences and absolutely love getting real and raw when it's asked for.

Who are we? We are Linsay Hiller and Angel Vosburgh St Pierre, Lamaze Childbirth Educators and mothers to 5 children between us. You can read more about our backgrounds on our About page.

We offer group classes at The Nurture Nook in Fairfax, VA (limited to 5 sets of parents). Private classes are also available throughout the year.
